About the Department
Data Analytics is the iterative, methodical exploration of an organisation’s data with an emphasis on statistical analysis. This B.Tech Data Analytics programme at GITS builds conceptual knowledge across multiple analytics disciplines, teaching students to apply analytic tools and techniques to solve real business problems. It is delivered in collaboration with the Institute of Analytics (IoA), UK — a not-for-profit professional body for analytics and data science — and ISDC, whose trainers provide 30 hours of hands-on training per module across 8 industry-relevant modules. On completion students receive a Certificate in Data Analytics, with all 8 IoA papers exempted from separate examination.

Message from Head of Department
The IoA membership is a gateway to a successful analytics career, giving students professional recognition, networking and access to Continuous Professional Development. Students learn R, Python, SQL, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning & AI, Deep Learning, NLP and Computer Vision, gaining a dual qualification (degree + professional certification) through in-house training that saves both time and money. With a shortage of skilled data-analytics graduates, students are well placed to find roles as risk analysts, data analysts and data scientists across consultancy, government, manufacturing, healthcare and defence.

Curriculum
Fundamentals of statistical analysis in R — descriptive and inferential statistics, probability, sampling distributions and linear regression for prediction.
Core Python for analytics: data types, operators, functions, classes and exception handling — the foundation for the rest of the programme.
Relational model, constraints, normalization and transaction processing, plus exposure to NoSQL programming.
Introduction to and in-depth study of Big Data and Hadoop — fundamentals, applications and real-world use cases.
Conceptual, statistical and ML algorithms: regression, decision trees, support vectors, clustering, association analysis and dimensionality reduction.
Deep neural networks, regularization, optimization, convolutional networks, sequence analysis and real-world applications.
NLP techniques and analytics on textual data — feature and relationship extraction, text categorization, clustering and topic modelling.
Image formation, image-processing algorithms, and 3D reconstruction and recognition from single and multiple images for scene understanding.
Placements
Graduates are eligible for roles such as Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Risk Analyst, Analytics Consultant, Statistician, Content Analyst, Data Engineer and Data Mining Analyst — with recruiters including HSBC, Uber, Accenture, IBM, Infosys, Intel and TCS. Average packages start around ₹6–7 LPA depending on the industry.
Investment
The programme fee covers training, support and an ISDC Certificate; IoA affiliate membership is optional. IoA fees may vary with exchange rate and IoA discretion.
