About the Course
Data Analytics is the practice of iterative, methodical exploration of an organization’s data with an emphasis on statistical analysis, used by companies committed to data-driven decision-making. The M.Tech Data Analytics course at GITS focuses on conceptual knowledge across multiple analytics disciplines, teaching students to apply analytic tools and techniques to solve business analytic problems.

Fundamentals of statistical analysis in the R environment — data exploration using descriptive and inferential statistics, probability, sampling distributions, and linear regression in a multivariate context for prediction.
Python language fundamentals — data types, operators, functions, classes and exception handling, essential to proceed with the programme.
Basics of SQL/NoSQL and relational databases — the relational model, concepts and constraints, normalization, transaction processing, plus exposure to NoSQL programming.
Introduction and in-depth study of Big Data and Hadoop — fundamentals to advanced topics, applications, usage and real use-case scenarios.
Conceptual, statistical and ML algorithms — regression, decision trees, support vectors, clustering, association analysis and dimensionality reduction.
Deep neural networks through regularization, optimization, convolutional neural networks, sequence analysis and real-world applications.
NLP techniques and analytics on textual data — feature extraction, relationship extraction, text categorization, clustering and topic modelling.
Image formation, image-processing algorithms, and algorithms for 3D reconstruction and recognition — core vision tasks of scene understanding and recognition.
