About the Department
The Department of Humanities & Basic Sciences forms the foundation of engineering, strengthening students’ first understanding of the profession. It covers Engineering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry along with communication skills and human values, in connection with every engineering programme at GITS. Backed by many doctorate, well-experienced faculty, the department also develops students’ personality, communication and soft skills, and instils strong human and professional values for a globally competitive environment.
Message from Head of Department
The department spans Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Humanities (English, Universal Human Values), teaching the RTU-prescribed basic-science courses across the first three years of B.Tech. Its highly qualified faculty — all with 10+ years of teaching experience — publish widely in national and international journals and participate in FDPs and STTPs. Faculty mentor each section at a 30:1 ratio, and since 2020-21 the department has provided advanced training in aptitude, reasoning, communication, general knowledge and project-report writing with support from the CDC cell.
