About the Department
The Civil Engineering program, one of the most sought after professional engineering disciplines, is designed to focus on building expertise in core subjects like Structure, Hydraulics, Highway and Environment, Material and Project Management. We provide a balanced education in the specialized areas of civil engineering that include planning, designing, construction, supervision of public and private projects and maintenance of essential infrastructural facilities such as Bridges, Railways, Highways, Water-works, Skyscrapers, Residential and Industrial Buildings, Rapid Transit Systems, Power Plants etc.
Students who enrol in Civil Engineering at GITS will be educated and trained with the appropriate skill-set and specialisation to get employment in high-end domestic and global projects. Increasing urbanization and Smart City Projects have facilitated the need for sustainable and efficient infrastructure solutions. Development in green buildings, sensor-embedded roads & buildings, geopolymer concrete, and water management have stimulated global civil engineering industry growth and open many career opportunities for civil engineers.

Message from Head of Department
The Department of Civil Engineering has grown over the years in providing high quality teaching and research in the various sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. We are committed to offer world-class undergraduate education, research guidance, professional consultancy, and manpower training as well as leadership in Civil Engineering. We provide a balanced education in the specialized areas of civil engineering including design as well as application of computer-aided design techniques; construction; modern tools usage; project management and various construction methodologies.
Civil department faculties strive continuously to explore new frontiers of knowledge, conducting basic and applied research and providing technical advisory support and consultancy to various organizations. The faculty also renders technical advice and consultancy services on live engineering problems to various government and private sector companies throughout the country.
The department is equipped with the latest facilities and equipment for extensive training to undergraduate students. Department has high-end teaching and research laboratories for basic and applied research as well as consultancy. We provide high quality technical advisory support through various R & D projects and consultancy to various organizations.
Qualified civil engineering experts have a plethora of possibilities in construction, energy and power sectors, geotechnical, environmental, coastal and transportation engineering; ranging from performing as Structural Engineers; Project Planning and Management Engineers; Consultants; Geotechnical Engineers; Environmental Engineers; City Planners; Traffic Engineers and most sought after Water Resource Engineers.

Tripartite agreement with UMC and NIUA, New Delhi. Rs. 20 Lakhs funding for WASH Lab. Aims to improve water, sanitation and hygiene issues in Udaipur.
Funded by Institute of Engineers India. Using granite slurry waste in concrete paver blocks for eco-friendly construction.
Waste plastic mixed with bitumen reduces content by 10%, increases road strength and eliminates pothole formation.
Green construction using marble dust and fly ash bricks, proving more economical and durable than conventional bricks.
Replacement of cement and fine aggregate with granite dust and glass powder at 5%, 10% and 15% enhanced compressive strength.
Using corn cob ash in building bricks for thermal insulation and fire resistance properties.
Live project utilizing project management techniques including network models, critical paths, cost control and resource allocation.
Determining specific pH range for coagulation during water treatment to control disinfection by-products.
